WBB: King’s late rally puts away Misericordia

The King’s Lady Monarchs were able to squeeze by conference foe Misericordia, 71-66, at Scandlon Gymnasium Saturday afternoon.

King’s offense was in sync for most of the day and were lead by senior Marissa Manning who finished with 19 points on 6-12 shooting.

While Manning delivered in the front court, sophomore Kasey Seitz also put in 19 from the back court. Seitz’s late game free throws sealed up the contest when Misericordia rallied back from an 18-point deficit.

Kayla Feairheller, who finished with 16 points, also worked well in the paint. She finished 8-15 from the floor. The Lady Monarchs shot 43.1 percent in the game while holding Misericordia to 40 percent.

Misericordia was led by Shelby Brochetti who finished with 16 points. Brochetti shot 3-6 from behind the arch.

Old Forge native, Lauren Smicherko, finished with 14 points on 5-11 shooting.

Each win for King’s is vitally important as they fight for the fourth and final playoff spot. With this win the Lady Monarchs improve to .500 in conference play with a 6-6 record.

The Lady Monarchs will again take the court on the road against Delaware Valley on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. Del-Val is also in contention for the final playoff spot.

Head coach Brian Donoghue declined to comment post-game to WRKC following his team’s five point win over Misericordia.
