WILKES BARRE–\u00a0King’s dropped to (4-2, 0-1) with its 68-52 loss to Delaware Valley. The Monarchs were led by sophomore Dan Rutecki.<\/p>\n

The underclassman had 17 points and went 11-12 from the charity stripe. Rutecki, like the rest of his teammates, struggled shooting the ball tonight. The Monarchs shot just 30 percent.<\/p>\n

When asked if his team was outplayed by a better team coach Andrejko made it clear that even though his squad dropped a decision, it wasn’t the case that Del-Val was necessarily better than King’s.<\/p>\n

“Lets not go that way,” Andrejko said post game. “They are a veteran team and experienced team.”<\/p>\n

Delaware Valley’s leading scorer was Jay Donovan, who went a perfect 4-for-4 from the line and made every single triple scoring 22 on the night.<\/p>\n

Chris Moran also chipped in 13 of his own along with 6-foot-9 Manny Ochenje, a Division I transfer from Pepperdine University, adding six points and nine boards of his own.<\/p>\n

The score was tied at 24 at half but then Del-Val exploded. They opened up the second half on a 16-2 run and never looked back. The Rams turned up the defensive intensity and Andrejko said it gave his team fits.<\/p>\n

“We can simulate it to the best of our ability in practice but you don’t have many teams that can get after you like that,” Andrejko said.<\/p>\n

King’s hits the hardwood again this Saturday at FDU-Florham with in attempt to get that first conference win.<\/p>\n
